wdaw2wing – a ‘new layer’ to control a remote WING console

Early 2025, wdaw2wing was born from the need to remote control my WING Rack from my Standard WING; the Rack being used as a ‘stage box’ and monitor mixing console while the Standard WING being used as FOH, both being linked with AES50. This is a great combination, providing a total of 32 local INs, and 16 local OUTs plus the Aux lines available on the Standard, perfect for our band and gigs!
Putting the Standard “DAW mode”/layer to use is a great way to provide up to 24 faders for controlling remote levels on the Rack, without any disturbance to FOH layers, mixing, or audio processing.
wdaw2wing enables this in using MIDI IN/OUT over USB in MCU mode into a MIDI module of the program, making its magic (i.e. managing protocol translations) while managing an Ethernet connection to the remote Rack for setting ot getting fader move updates and getting scribble data associated with the currently selected groups of faders to remote control from the DAW layers.

Having done this also enables using any MCU capable device instead of the FOH/Standard WING, such as an X-Touch (+extenders) for example.

wdaw2wing is now available from the products sections of this website, and a small demo has been released, showing some of the capabilities of the application.
